YangZhou has an interesting geographical feature. Recall HangZhou's West Lake - well, it goes that YangZhou has one as well, albeit less grand in size, called ShouXiHu, or slender West lake. When the QianLong Emperor sailed south on his barge on one of his many tours of the kingdom in the 17th century, he passed by here. Many of the pavilions and buildings are built specifically for those trips. Grand reminders of the splendour of the old kingdom.
